“Science is the belief in the ignorance of experts.” – Richard Feynman

The Department of Physics has started its journey since 1988 and ever since then, it has strived to emboss this very idea onto the impressionable minds of today’s youth. The classroom lessons are highly interactive and interspersed with demonstrations or examples from real life. The thing that is most valued in the classroom lectures are: raising a pertinent question. Often, we design experiments beyond curriculum that entails a lot of fun, even if the experiments fail. Our classroom lectures are never limited to the curriculum. Rather we follow the zigzag path of a student’s imagination and traverse new arena of knowledge and insight.

  • Our laboratories are well-equipped.
  • Computer laboratory and other laboratories are always free to access.
  • Seminars are organized to give the students wide exposure.
  • Audio-visual and other ICT techniques are used to enhance students’ engagement.
  • Reading room facility is available.
  • We conduct coaching classes for competitive exams.
  • Student’s seminar is regularly organized.
  • Career mentorship is always given.
  • Ex-students visit the department and are in regular touch with the current students. They provide career guidance and never fail to motivate them whenever the need arises.

We define “achievement” as being able to realize one’s own dreams. Dreams of individual students are unique. We feel happy for the students who are living their dreams and for those students too, who are yet to achieve their dreams but are passionately on the move with full focus and dedication.

Two-Days Workshop on Robotics

https://youtu.be/8Gnd-JB4Ga4?si=xw5VGOMPGUJFNWk0

To bring out the fun in programming and to give the students a glimpse of the basics of automation, a two-day workshop was conducted in the department on 13th and 14th September, 2022 on Robotics. Prof. Kaushik Nanda from Prabhat Kumar College, Contai, guided the students with great enthusiasm and zeal on how to create your very own, personal minion! Beside giving hands-on training on Arduino, Prof. Kaushik Nanda also gave the students a flitting idea on Origami.

Lab tour in VECC (Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre), Salt Lake, Kolkata

To give the students an idea about how and where the textbook theories are applied in the bigger world and how magnificent the experimental world of physics looks, we took our students to visit the VECC in Kolkata on 18th November, 2022, we visited the VECC in Kolkata. The scientists there took us to visit the medical cyclotron, superconducting cyclotron and room temperature cyclotron facilities and explained their function. It was amazing to watch how we humans are routinely devising newer ways to delve deep into the world of atoms and subatomic particles. The students were excited and greatly motivated following the tour.
