Different Scholarship Schemes:
Haldia Government College arranges scholarships and freeships for the needy students with the objective to encourage them for better performance. In consonance with the Vision of the college, which is to impart higher education especially to the desiring and deserving students belonging to socially, and economically backward and unprivileged section of the rural society, the institution believes that any student will not be deprived of education due to financial barrier for which scholarship is given to the needy students.
There are various scholarship schemes for Undergraduate and Post Graduate students, offered by the State Government and Central Government as well as private enterprises. These are:
Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means Scholarship (SVMCM):
With a view to assisting the meritorious students belonging to economically backward families in the State of West Bengal to pursue higher studies, the Government of West Bengal introduces this scheme of giving scholarships at different levels of higher studies, at educational institutions based in West Bengal. The Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship Scheme has been thoroughly revamped in the year 2016 to cover a greater number of students as well as to enhance the scholarship amounts significantly. A large number of students of this institution are regularly benefitted from this scheme. The eligibility criteria and selection process have been decided by the Government of West Bengal.

OASIS Scholarship:
The Backward Classes Welfare Department of the Government of West Bengal operates the Oasis Scholarship Portal, which serves as a centralized online platform for all scholarships available to students belonging to the SC, ST, and OBC categories in the state. The West Bengal OASIS Scholarship 2023 is a merit-cum-means scholarship scheme initiated by the Government of West Bengal to provide financial assistance to students belonging to economically weaker sections of society who are pursuing higher education. The scholarship is aimed at providing financial support to students who face financial constraints and may not be able to afford the cost of education. In every academic year, many students of our institution coming from SC, ST or OBC families are getting benefitted from this scholarship.

Guidelines for Application:
Aikyashree Prakalpa:
To address the growing aspiration for education in the minority communities of the State of West Bengal and with a view to providing them more avenues for socio-economic and educational mobility by extending financial support and encouragement to the meritorious students belonging to the minority communities, the State Government has set up the “Aikyashree”- West Bengal State Scholarship for Minority students. Under this schemes, eligible students can apply for Post Matric and Merit-Cum-Means scholarship, and many students of our institutions are getting benefited from this scholarship in a regular basis.
Kanyashree Prakalpa:
This scholarship is for unmarried girl students only. There is no income bar or merit criteria. An unmarried girl student can avail of this scholarship regardless of whatever scholarship she is already getting. K1 scheme is for girls below 18 years and once the girl turns 18, she is eligible for K2 scholarship scheme. K3 is only for the postgraduate unmarried female students which they can apply through SVMCM portal.
National Scholarship: The Government of India provides scholarships to all those students who are not able to finance their education. For this purpose, the government has launched a National Scholarship Portal. For all Indian Students, Minority scholarship, Merit-cum-means scholarship, Disabilities Scholarship, Financial assistance for the Wards of the Beedi/Cine/IOMC/LSDM workers, Central sector scholarship etc.
Student Aid Scholarship Scheme & Poor Fund
Student Aid Scholarship Scheme:
Haldia Government College provides financial support to the meritorious but economically weak students in the form of tuition fee waiver based on the recommendation of the Scholarship Committee. The selection process starts with the enrolment of the students in different programs and based on the merit and other eligibility, the Scholarship Committee recommends full or half tuition fee to the deserving students with special skills sets mainly considering the following criteria:
Student Aid Scholarship Scheme (Poor Fund):
The College has its own poor fund which is mainly generated from collecting a minimum percentage of amount from the students during the enrolment. In every academic year some meritorious but economically weaker section students are provided economic support as scholarships by utilizing the poor fund of the college. The poor fund is mainly provided to the students for the activities like purchase of books, payment of tuition fee, for participation in field excursion and any other requirement of the student after recommendation by the Scholarship Committee. The selection procedures of the students are totally controlled by the Scholarship Committee of the College. The applications are invited from the needy students along with supportive documents in every academic year for availing the scholarship from the poor fund of the college. After receiving the applications, the Scholarship Committee finally selects the students after verifying the documents properly. The Scholarship Committee mainly selects the students considering the following criteria:
